Our Commitment to Action

  • June 8, 2020
Our country is at a crossroads. Institutional racism is woven into the fabric of our country and is tearing our country apart. It is not just a national issue, but a local one, impacting virtually every community we serve in Illinois and Wisconsin. It is a fundamental problem that has long festered without resolution. It is not good enough to say we are against it; we have to do something about it.

We should not and cannot remain silent or on the sidelines as people living in our communities are treated in a way we find hateful. We must accept our accountability to address the issues being raised by our fellow citizens. Not doing so would be a fundamental failure of us all to protect the most vulnerable black and brown people in our communities in the cities and towns in our District and around the country.

We are committed to action and will be communicating the actions we plan to take to create change.

Serving our members and the communities you support has always been our highest priority. The strength in our communities lies not in our similarities, but in our differences. We consider it our responsibility to be a part of a solution that demands change to address the challenges in our society and builds a better world for everyone.
